Troop B has seen an uptick in vehicle break-ins.
On 10/1/2023 between the hours of 2 am and 4 am, several vehicles were gone through in the Canton and New Hartford area. Locking the doors is no longer enough to deter the thieves. Windows are now being broken to gain entry to the vehicles. Numerous items of value were taken.
Remember that theft prevention happens before you ever leave your vehicle. NEVER leave anything of value inside your vehicle overnight. This include things like: laptops, cellphones, large amounts of money, jewelry, purses and wallets.
Be sure to always LOCK your vehicle and report any suspicious activity as soon as you observe it to Troop B.
