Barkhamsted has a new Resident State Trooper, who started working in our town yesterday, June 7. Trooper First Class Brett Attmore is 43 years old, and is a married father of two boys, ages 7 and 10. He lives in Simsbury and has been there since 2012. He joined the State Police in 2007 as a member of the 119th Training Troop. After graduating the academy, his first assignment was at the Troop C (Tolland) and Troop D (Danielson) barracks. From 2012 to 2015, he worked the highway in Troop H (Hartford). In 2016, he made Detective and worked in Central District Major Crime until September 2020. Missing the “road” and what he had signed up to do, he was transferred to Troop B (North Canaan), which is where he most recently worked prior to the Resident Trooper position opening. We are lucky to have Brett as our Resident Trooper, and believe he will be an approachable, reliable and knowledgeable replacement for Jim Bonetti.
