In the past 2 ½ weeks, we have seen 18 new cases of COVID in Barkhamsted and one additional death. Many of these cases have occurred in families that have not been vaccinated or in the schools, both at the elementary school and Regional 7. At least one of these cases resulted in a hospitalization. If you have been vaccinated and become infected, the cases tend to be much milder.
Only about 63% of our residents eligible for vaccinations (over 12 years old) and about 75% of the adults over 18 are fully vaccinated. The best way to keep all of our residents safe is to get vaccinated. Hartford Health Care, Walgreen’s, CVS and other health care providers have a good supply of vaccine, so please get the shot.
If you are eligible for a booster and need help getting your vaccination, please call Town Hall (860-379-8285), and we will help you find a location or schedule an appointment. Only the Pfizer is being given as a booster at the moment, but Moderna and Johnson & Johnson will be available soon.
