Spring Karate 2022  

Spring Karate for Kids! Thursdays- March 31, April 7, 14, 28, May 12, 19, 26, June 2 (No program on April 21 or May 5)   at the Barkhamsted School in the Gym from 6:00-6:45 p.m. 
White Belts (Beginners ages 5 to 12)
Little Dragons-(ages 5 & 6)-Basic Karate skills, Basic Kata, target drills and exercise, simple self defense

Mighty Tigers
(ages 7 & 8)-Stronger Karate basics and Kata, Stretching, exercise, target drills and self defense

Karate Rangers
(ages 9-12)-Karate Basics, including kicking, kata, self-defense, exercise to level, target drills

$75.00 per 8 week sessions    New-$5.00 discount for each additional family member that signs up for Karate!

Family/Teen and Adult Karate 
Spring Karate for Families/Teen and Adults-Thursdays- March  31,  April 7,  14, 28,  May 12, 19, 26,  June 2 (No program on April 21 or May 5)      at the Barkhamsted School in the Gym from 7:00-7:45 p.m.  

This program offers great exercise while learning valuable Karate and self-defense techniques.  

White Belts (Beginners ages 13 and up)-7:00 to 7:45 p.m.

-(Ages 13 and up)-Kenpo Karate Forms and Self Defense Techniques, Basic kicking drills.

This is a great opportunity to learn karate with family members or solo.

$85.00  per 8 week sessions   New-$5.00 discount for each additional family member that signs up for Karate!

New Pickleball Spring 2022 Session! 
Spring Pickleball Free Demo Night will be held on Wednesday, March 9 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Barkhamsted Elementary School gym.  Come down and check out what the fun is all about!  Please wear sneakers and bring a Paddle if you have one.  Players from the past sessions are encouraged to come and help the new players enjoy the sport that night and also get some play time on the courts before our Spring Session begins.  Participants can also register that night for the Spring program.  The demo night is FREE!

It is time to get off the couch and join us for the very fun and new Pickleball Spring Session. All levels and abilities are welcome. This fun sport combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. You will get great exercise and have a blast.

Spring-Free Pickleball/Into/Registration Night- March 9  (Free Night)

 Spring PickleBall Program dates March 9, 16, 30, April 13, 27, May 4, 11, 18. These are all Wednesday’s from 6-9:00 p.m.  (If the Barkhamsted Elementary school is cancelled due to snow/bad weather there will be no program)  We will try to add on a week if possible at the end of the session.   (No program on March 23, April 6 or April 20)
Payment Registration Deadline-Wednesday, March 9 or March 16 at the first Official night of Pickleball

Location-Barkhamsted Elementary School Gym            Time-6:00-9:00 p.m. (this program is for adults (high school students are also welcome)

Egg Hunt and Visit with the Easter Bunny with Photos 
When:  Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Where:   (The egg hunt and Easter Bunny visit will be on the lawn next to the Peter Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio and Orchard Hill Bakery)

What to Bring:  Your Easter Basket to join in on the Easter Egg Hunt and a smile!  The children will be divided into two or three separate age groups for a toy and candy filled Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Recreation Commission.   The Event will be held rain, snow or shine!!!

Recreation Summer Camp-(July 18-22, 2022)
Get ready for loads of fun at the annual week long Barkhamsted Recreation Camp.  There are new special events, crafts and water fun planned for each day. This year’s theme will be “Four Seasons of Fun for Everyone!”  We hope your child will be a part of the 2022 camp.  Barkhamsted Recreation Summer camp will be held July 18-22, 2022 Please register through this link- 

The registration deadline is June 3,  2022 or when program is full.  Be sure to register early as spots are limited.  Please sign up for the Town’s mailing list and like the Town of Barkhamsted on Facebook to stay up to date on programs.

Summer Help Wanted 
Applications are being accepted for Counselors, Junior Counselors and staff for the Barkhamsted Recreation Summer Camp that will be held on July 18-22, 2022.      Please complete the application from this link-

Deadline is-Friday, April 1 or when positions are full (completed applications must be received by this date.)  Junior Counselors must be at least 14 years old and Counselors must be at least 16 years old.
