Spring Karate 2020
Spring Karate for Kids! Thursdays- April 2, 9, 23, 30, May 14, 21, 28, June 4 (No program on April 16 or May 4) at the Barkhamsted School in the Gym from 6:00-6:45 p.m.
White Belts (Beginners ages 5 to 12)
Little Dragons-(ages 5 & 6)-Basic Karate skills, Basic Kata, target drills and exercise, simple self defense
Mighty Tigers (ages 7 & 8)-Stronger Karate basics and Kata, Stretching, exercise, target drills and self defense
Karate Rangers (ages 9-12)-Karate Basics, including kicking, kata, self-defense, exercise to level, target drills
$75.00 per 8 week sessions New-$5.00 discount for each additional family member that signs up for Karate!
Family/Teen and Adult Karate

This program offers great exercise while learning valuable Karate and self-defense techniques.

Teen/Adults-(Ages 13 and up)-Kenpo Karate Forms and Self Defense Techniques, Basic kicking drills.
This is a great opportunity to learn karate with family members or solo.
$85.00 per 8 week sessions New-$5.00 discount for each additional family member that signs up for Karate!

New Pickleball Spring 2020 Session!
Spring Pickleball Free Demo Night will be held on Wednesday, March 11 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Barkhamsted Elementary School gym. Come down and check out what the fun is all about! Please wear sneakers and bring a Paddle if you have one. Players from the past sessions are encouraged to come and help the new players enjoy the sport that night and also get some play time on the courts before our Spring Session begins. Participants can also register that night for the Spring program. The demo night is FREE!
Spring Pickleball 2020
It is time to get off the couch and join us for the very fun and new Pickleball Spring Session. All levels and abilities are welcome. This fun sport combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. You will get great exercise and have a blast.

Spring-Free Pickleball/Into/Registration Night- March 11 (Free Night)
Spring PickleBall Program dates-March 18, April 1, 8, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3, 2020 (June 17 and 24 are back up bad weather days!)
These are all Wednesday’s from 6-9:00 p.m. (If the Barkhamsted Elementary school is cancelled due to snow/bad weather there will be no program) We will try to add on a week if possible at the end of the session. (No program on April 15)
Registration Deadline-Wednesday, March 18 at the first night of Pickleball
Location-Barkhamsted Elementary School Gym Time-6:00-9:00 p.m. (this program is for adults (high school students are also welcome)
Fee: $20.00 for residents, $25.00 for non-residents per eight week session (no pro-rations) Pre-registration is required. Please bring your own paddle and wear sneakers. Egg Hunt and Visit with the Easter Bunny
When: Saturday, April 4 at 3:00 p.m.
Where: The Lawn next to Peter Greenwood’s Glass Blowing Studio in Riverton
(The egg hunt will be on the lawn next to the Peter Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio/Rose’s Kitchen)
What to Bring: Your Easter Basket to join in on the Easter Egg Hunt, a smile and a camera! The children will be divided into two separate age groups for a toy and candy filled Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Recreation Commission. The Event will be held rain, snow or shine!!!
Barkhamsted Annual Earth Day Event The seventh annual Barkhamsted Town Earth Day celebration will be held on Sunday-April 26, 2020 from 12:30--5:00 p.m. at the Peoples Forest Pavilion and Fields. Come down and enjoy all of the family fun in the yearly town tradition. There are enjoyable activities for the whole family and lots of information at the vendor booths!
Recreation Summer Camp-Save the Date! (July 20-24, 2020) Get ready for loads of fun at the annual week long Barkhamsted Recreation Camp. There are new special events, crafts and water fun planned for each day. This year’s theme will be a Wacky Olympics! We hope your child will be a part of the 2020 camp! Barkhamsted Recreation Summer camp will be held July 20-24, 2020. Registration forms and further information will be available on the town website-www.barkhamsted.us at the end of April. Registration for Camp will be held April 29-June 5, 2020. Please register before the deadline. Forms will also be sent to the Barkhamsted Elementary School in each child’s backpack.
