Winter Hiking Fun with Hot Chocolate     
Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Peoples State Forest (approximately 4 mile hike)

Join us as we hike up to the beautiful Beaver Brook Marsh Boardwalk trail in Peoples State Forest at 1 p.m.. on Saturday, January 22.  Enjoy a fun Winter afternoon by spending time with friends, exercising and enjoying our beautiful forest surrounded by the beautiful Wild and Scenic Farmington River as we hike to the Beaver Brook Boardwalk Marsh Trail and enjoy a fun afternoon.  Please dress appropriately with proper gear, this will be a moderately strenuous hike but well worth it-It will be held rain or shine! The start of the trail is all up hill. The total hike is around 4 miles.  Hiking families are welcome. We will also enjoy hot chocolate at the end of the hike.  Please bring water and your favorite  snack.    Please RSVP by Thursday, January 18th  by pre-registering and submitting this form with Donna Bastrzycki-Barkhamsted Recreation Director.   This will be a hike led jointly by the Barkhamsted Recreation Department, Farmington River Steward.   Please meet at the parking area on East River Road at bottom of Greenwoods Road (near the gate) (The road that leads up to the Stone Museum) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 22.   (Note-it is hunting season, if you can wear orange or a bright colored jacket it is recommended)  We will be also practicing social/physical distancing and participants are asked to wear face coverings when social distancing is not possible.  Please also take your temperature before arriving and if you have a temperature over 100 or also experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or any close contacts or family members are, please do not attend.  Please wear hiking boots, dress in layers, hats, gloves and if you have micospikes for your shoes if you have them.  If there is enough snow cover, snow shoes are also welcome!!)  Please register at this link-https://forms.gle/d25d9QFVfQJ7D2Vd9
